• 2026-2027 US Sports Sign-Ups

    Seasons 1, 2, 3 & 4
  • Dear Prospective Student-Athletes,

Sign-ups for tryouts for the 2026-2027 school year are now open.

If you submit this form and would like to change your preference, please email athletics@tas.edu.tw for changes, or if you have questions, the Athletics Office (1H26) is located next to the Joie Upper School Gymnasium.

There are no tryouts for SSTs, which are based on a first-come, first-served sign-up. If you sign up, you are expected to attend all scheduled sessions (two contacts/week).

Please be reminded that in order to participate in any TAS sports offering, you MUST have both items listed below (no exceptions). These are also available on the Forms page of the athletics site.

    1. Valid Medical Examination Form for 2026-2027 filed with the Health Office prior to tryouts (parents may access this form through the parent portal). You only need to do one Medical Examination Form for the school year.

    2. TAS Student-Athlete Parent/Guardian Handbook Acknowledgement/Participation Form. Your parent(s)/guardian(s) must digitally sign this document below once they review the form and the TAS Athletics Handbook. You [students] must read/review the TAS Athletics Handbook.

  • Athletics Acknowledgement Form

Prior to participating in any practice or tryout sessions for any TAS sports offering, each athlete must successfully pass the TAS Medical Examination Form by a registered physician. A copy of the TAS Medical Examination Form must be on file in the TAS Health Office.

The student-athlete and parent/guardian must acknowledge and agree to the following statements:

As a TAS student-athlete participating voluntarily in interscholastic athletics, I understand that:

    1. I am required to house student-athletes from other IASAS schools when TAS hosts athletic events that involve traveling teams. The minimum requirement is to house once per upper school sport that I am involved in. I understand that if I am unable to house I will find a replacement.
    2. I will abide by TAS’s rules as outlined in the TAS Student-Athlete parent/guardian Handbook, the coach’s team rules, and/or IASAS conference rules (outlined in Appendix 3). Violations may result in suspension or dismissal from the team and further disciplinary action from the US Administration or Athletic Director.
    3. I will conduct myself in an exemplary manner at all times, in accordance with TAS philosophy of athletics.
    4. I will be responsible for all athletic uniforms and equipment issued to me throughout the season. I will return such equipment at the conclusion of the season, and I will cover any damage or loss to such equipment by paying the current replacement cost for any of the equipment and NT$4000 for uniforms not accounted for by me at the end of the season.
    5. I will not use or be in possession of tobacco, alcohol or other drugs at any point in the season. If I do use any of these substances, am in possession of such substances, or am suspended from school for use or possession of these substances, I will be subject to disciplinary action and possible dismissal from the team.
    6. I acknowledge that I have been properly advised, cautioned and warned by administrative and coaching personnel of TAS that I am exposing myself to risk of injury, including but not limited to, the risk of sprains, fractures, and ligament and/or cartilage damage which could result in a temporary or permanent, partial or complete impairment in the use of my limbs, brain damage, paralysis; or even death. Having been so cautioned and warned, it is still my desire to participate in sports and to do so with full knowledge and understanding of the risk of injury.
    7. I, along with my parents/guardians, certify that I have read and understand all the policies of the TAS Student-Athlete parent/guardian Handbook and in order to be eligible for participation I must comply with all the requirements listed.
    8. I acknowledge that if I am participating in a Varsity Team, I will be required and will be able to travel internationally to invitationals and IASAS events, which will require a financial commitment, a current foreign passport with six months validity for the dates of travel and where necessary, an eligible visa in order to travel, and any other travel documents required.
    9. It is my responsibility as a TAS student-athlete to report all injuries/illnesses to an athletic trainer.
    10. If selected to travel, I will not travel if I present with a fever of 37.5 degrees celsius on the day prior to and/or the day of travel.

As a parent/guardian of a TAS student-athlete participating voluntarily in interscholastic athletics, I understand that:

    1. I hereby give my consent for my child to represent his/her school in athletic activities and associated travel. I understand that when departing from and returning to Taiwan on school-sponsored trips, the school will purchase tickets using the legal name and information of my child’s foreign passport. I understand I am responsible to ensure all required travel documents are up to date and completed for all school trips (i.e. visa applications with at least six months validity, etc.).
    2. I understand that as a parent/guardian of a TAS student-athlete I am required to house student-athletes from other IASAS schools when TAS hosts athletic events that involve traveling teams. The minimum requirement is to house once per US sport that my child is involved in. I understand that if we are unable to house my child will find a suitable replacement. At least one parent/guardian will be present when hosting guests.
    3. I authorize the school to obtain, through a physician of its choice, any emergency medical care that may become reasonably necessary for the student-athlete in the course of such athletic activities. (NOTE: The school will make every effort to make use of your child’s health and injury information).
    4. I agree we/I will not hold the school or anyone acting on its behalf responsible for any injury occurring to the above-named student-athlete in the course of such athletic activities or such travel.
    5. I have read the eligibility rules and regulations of student-athlete participation listed above (Student-Athlete Agreement, bullets 1-10) and fully understand and support them. I further understand that should there be a time whereby either my son/daughter or the school is not in accordance with these guidelines, I may request a conference within three calendar days of such time with the school personnel—Athletic Director and/or coach—to discuss the matter further.
    6. I give my permission for the student to have a baseline and post-concussion ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) administered by Taipei American School. I understand that my child may need to be tested more than once, depending on the results of the test. I understand that my student-athlete should be cleared by a physician and a Taipei American School Athletic Trainer before returning to athletics or any activity following a concussion.
    7. I hereby give consent to TAS athletic trainers to provide sports medicine services to my child. This includes the evaluation, assessment, emergency treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-participation of injuries/illnesses. I hereby authorize an athletic trainer who provides such services to my child to disclose any information to those who, in the professional judgment of the athletic trainer, are required to have this information in order to assure optimum treatment for and recovery from the injury/illness, and to protect the health and safety of my child.  I understand such disclosures may be made to my child’s administrators, athletic directors, coaches, school nurses, any classroom teacher required to provide academic adjustments to assure my child’s recovery and safe return-to-participation.
    8. If I believe that my child needs further treatment or rehabilitation services for the injury/illness, my child may be treated by the physician or provider of my choice.  I understand, however, that all decisions regarding safe return-to-participation following injury/illness shall be made by an athletic trainer at TAS.
    9. If selected to travel, I will not allow my child to travel if my child presents a baseline fever of 37.5 degrees celsius on the day prior to and/or the day of travel.

The signatures below confirm your acknowledgement and understanding of the information in the TAS Athletics Student-Athlete/Parent/Guardian Handbook and serves as parental/guardian consent for your child to participate on TAS competitive sports teams. We acknowledge the importance of complying with both the letter and the spirit of the rules, regulations, and guidelines contained in the handbook to include all IASAS rules and guidelines as outlined in Appendix 3. We further acknowledge that these policies are not exhaustive and do not bind TAS, and that TAS may modify, depart from, or replace these policies without notice.

If you have any questions/concerns, please contact athletics@tas.edu.tw or call 2-2873-9900 Ext. 587.
